Horizontal lines dominate the western edge of the city. The basin of Brunico stretches flat to beyond San Lorenzo, while the mountain peaks emerge in the distance beyond the plateaus of Riscone and Falzes. On the edge of the compact centre, the valley floor has long since been transformed into an urbanised area in which portions of cultivated countryside alternate with railway and road embankments, abandoned barracks, sports facilities, car parks, large school complexes and production facilities. The project adapts to this horizontal dominance and seeks a ‚topographical‘ anchoring to the landscape.
