Carbon is the basis of all life – and in the form of CO2 a major problem for the climate. Only a small part of the carbon is in the air. Much larger carbon reservoirs are forests, soils or oceans.
In one cubic meter of construction timber, almost one ton of CO2 is permanently stored. Wood is therefore the ideal material for climate-positive construction. A house made of solid wood is a great natural carbon store. One such storage facility is located in Verdistraße in Brixen. The diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone has realized there a residential house made of solid wood in the “Klimahaus A Nature Standard”.
